The Cleek made it to Edinburgh Festival Fringe!

The Cleek on Arthur's Seat

It was an ambitious project – joining writers and performers from across four continents to perform a sketch and improv show at the world’s biggest open-access arts festival… But we did it!

And according to the reviews, we did it well:

BroadwayWorld Review
“Scenes are polished and are all executed brilliantly … What really impressed me was how well the group seem to work together especially with improv … They look like they’re having a great time doing it as well.”

EdFringeReview Reviews
“The Cleek redeem the reputation of improv with their fabulously original and hilarious show … It remains incredibly fast paced; each performer switching between a huge variety of characters with incredible ease and high energy.” ★★★★

“Exceptionally slick … Strong chemistry between the cast … They read each other’s next move with virtual telepathy and the timing of each sketch was flawless.” ★★★★★

Besides reviews, we were also thrilled to be featured alongside other improv groups in a couple of high-profile pieces:

Feature in The Scotsman (Scotland’s national newspaper)
Shaina Wagner and Lizzy Mace interviewed for a feature on performers bringing “US style” improv to the Fringe.

Interview with Clive Anderson in The List Magazine
We got to question the host of What Does The Title Matter Anyway? a live show which for legal reasons has nothing whatsoever to do with the TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? that he hosted in the 1990s.

Some of our members also had time to write some Q&As and opinion pieces for other websites, giving an insight into their expectations and experiences at the Fringe – which for most of them was their first time performing there:

Who knows what’s next for The Cleek? In the manner of improv, even we don’t know! Follow us on Twitter or Facebook to be the first to find out!
